Bloomington

Where Icons Intersect

The seat of McLean County is brimming with legendary tales and historical sites, but Bloomington isn’t a city that’s stuck in its past. Sure, the legacy of some of this country’s most impactful figures echoes throughout Bloomington today, but those stories have given way to an exciting present and an incredible future to look forward to. Today, Bloomington is one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation, thanks in part to financial institutions like State Farm and Country Financial making their corporate homes here, while the city’s outdoor spaces and educational centers — including Illinois Wesleyan University elevate the quality of life for a diverse and dynamic population.

Mr. Lincoln Goes to Bloomington

Outside the state capital of Springfield, perhaps no city in the state boasts as deep a connection with Abraham Lincoln than Bloomington does. Indeed, the 16th U.S. president spent a great amount of his pre-presidential life here, first as a lawyer and then as a U.S. representative. Explore the life and times of the Great Emancipator through sites like the David Davis Mansion, follow in his footsteps on the Looking for Lincoln tour or learn about Lincoln’s connection to the BN area through artifacts and exhibits at the Cruisin' with Lincoln on 66 Visitors Center & Gift Shop at the McLean County Museum of History.
