Passing the Torch

Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU), founded in 1850, is a distinguished private liberal arts institution located in Bloomington. The university offers a diverse range of more than 100 majors, minors, and programs — including pre-professional tracks — with a strong emphasis on undergraduate education and personalized student success. Notably, IWU houses the College of Fine Arts, which includes the Schools of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts, as well as the School of Nursing, known for its competitive and comprehensive nursing program. The campus is known for its vibrant student life, featuring more than 100 student organizations, including academic clubs, sports teams, and cultural groups. The picturesque campus includes historic buildings, modern facilities, and lush green spaces.

On with the Show!

Named for the university’s 10th president, Harry W. McPherson, McPherson Hall at the IWU School of Theatre Arts hosts four stage plays throughout the year in a spacious, 300-seat setting. Additionally, Merwin and Wakely Art Galleries offer a chance to view the creativity of a global student body through year-round exhibitions.

Discover the Downtown

Adjacent to the IWU campus, Downtown Bloomington offers numerous shops, eateries, and art galleries, all located along the most famous highway in American history — Historic Route 66. This historic district is also home to some of Central Illinois’ top entertainment venues like the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts— which hosts a variety of live performances on its historic stage — and The Castle Theatre, one of the premier concert venues in the region.
